Thanks to Cole Ford and his crew at Cavevan I have the van I’ve dreamed about since my 2016 48 state ride. It gets me and the Tenere comfortably around the USA.
It’s a 2018 Ford Transit, High Roof, EXT Long, 3.5L twin Turbo Ecoboost that was bought at Landmark Ford south of Portland. It was designed from the start as a motorcycle hauler and space to sleep and cook.
The design called for the capability to have the bike inside or on the Class IV(772lb Tongue wt) hitch. My Tenere 700 weighs in at 450lbs so a special hitch carrier was custom built by Joe Desrosiers at Joehauler in San Marcos Ca. I back the bike in with the help of a Warn ATV winch wired into the van behind my drivers seat.
